Synopsis

For children born and raised during war circumstances, who watched for a decade murder and torture live and on television, violence became their way of life, whether by submitting to it or inflicting it.

Founding S.A.R.A. (syrian association for rescuing animals) by Annie Orfaly was quite a hard task. It became the first of a kind in Syria.

Besides difficulties of financing and war, and the primitive dangerous ways of rescuing,  S.A.R.A. was subject to criticism and rejection from a big part of the local community, starting from mocking and insulting her, to beating and threatening her life sometimes.

“When human life becomes worthless, saving animals becomes surrealistic and weird”

When we follow up the rescuing operations with S.A.R.A, we see most cases subject to disfiguring and permanent damages caused by humans deliberate inflicted violence, mostly children!

S.A.R.A. works on two projects: first: spreading the concept of helping the weaker, by awareness campaigns, and writing a scholar book about it; second: pushing to make a law incriminating violence towards animals in Syria.
